Surely you’ve heard of the recently uncovered Beatles’ Revolution 20…..
    But just in case

I’d like to thank you very much for your shares, especially the ones called “The Originals…” because it was them (and you) who got me started to make no less than seven volumes of a series I call “Like You Never Heard them Before”. I am about to make number eight soon so please keep them coming.

I must confess I first stumbled upon your blog recently looking for free music. Since then I have read many of your posts and I would like to thank you for all you have shared. I like your blog very much for a few reasons. You are obviously very well read and extremely knowledgeable on all music. Your posts are honest yet unbiased. You are not a music snob, you know what you like but show that you feel it’s all relavant. Lastly I feel your blog is well named. You are in fact a major dude with half a heart who is willing to share.
    Thanks,
    Art Q

What an amazing site! I was just googling to find a link between Stewart Copeland and Todd Rundgren and found this site… and was overjoyed to find Steely Dan references in the bargain!!!

I nearly panicked last December for not finding your music blog anywhere on the ‘net. I’m glad to know that you are still posting the good stuff. Congratulations on your new site!

Wow!!!!! Your blog is a treasure trove of great music and well-informed commentary, all served with class and just the right amount of fun and irreverence. Highest praise to you, Dude, for your fantastic work. I am having a great time looking around.

One of my hobbies is tracking down original versions of better-known hit songs, so coming across your The Originals series was like a dream come true for me. There are many items in there that I have wanted to get my hands on for some time. I also discovered so much information that was new to me. Thank you.

Along those lines, may I humbly offer some background info regarding a song featured in The Originals Vol. 25? I am a fan of Old Time Radio (I’m from the USA) and was taken aback one day while listening to a 1951 episode of a variety program called The Big Show, because one of the segments featured the show’s music director Meredith Willson leading the orchestra and singer Fran Warren through the paces of his new composition Till I Met You. It was note-for-note the same song as Till There Was You, with just a slight lyric variation. I have a mediocre-quality mp3 and can send it to you.

Additionally, there seems to have been a recorded version of Till There Was You released (albeit promo only) before The Music Man opened on Broadway and before the cast album was released.See

    Cheers!

Thank you for your kind words. I can promise that I have many more originals lined up (and I hope to have the time to do a few new ones soon).

I’d be very interested in the MP3; thank you for the offer. You could send it to halfhearteddude [at] gmail [dot] com
