Too cool, although never a great disco fan I did love Van McCoy – The Hustle. At the time it seemed like it was forever on the radio. And I have to admit to being a big fan of Albert Hammond – “Down By The River”, and much of his other stuff like “99 Miles from LA”, “The Air that I breathe”, and of course the big lie “It never rains in southern California”. I once heard a mash-up of The Hustle and the Hues Corporation's Rock the Boat it was actually pretty damned good... But now whenever I hear one of those two songs I get them BOTH stuck in my head. Whenever I put one of them on one of my playlists it has to be followed by the other. It doesn't matter which order as long as they both get played and get played back to back. Whenever I hear Smokie I think of the songs Living Next Door to Alice and If You Think You Know How to Love Me. Oh and didn't they record Hungry Eyes before Eric Carmen got his hands on it for the Dirty Dancing soundtrack?

I learned to do the Hustle in physical education class the year I was 15. It was a big improvement on the square dancing we usually had to do.

hah! never knew the changed the name.. back then I could barely spell mine, mind:)
great selection here, for once I won’t even moan about the inclusion of Juliane Werding :P for rather unfathomable reasons I liked the song back then (never beat Connie Kramer though)
New York Groove is einfach nur kuhl :) .. and Lady Bump – awh, those first school discos…

Greetings, AMD, and congratulations on the move to the new domain. Looks good, too.

I’ve made the same migration myself, but through Blogger; seemed more cost effective, although I did consider going down the Word Press route. The one major factor I did not take into account was the whole re-indexing thing.
